5/7-Heard the bassin' broke open on Cinco de Mayo, made sense knowing how the bass love their Coronas & tequila. Got out today with Steve Westhoven from Avon & his crew. Netting bunker was too easy, 175 pieces in one throw, it took 2 of us to get the net over the side. This made me nervous, as I am always suspicious of too good a start. Not to worry, though, as the bass & blues bit as soon as we had our baits in the water. At trip's end, we boated 9 bass to 18 pounds, and literally all the bluefish you wanted to catch. The only lull was during the tide change, and even then, we still picked. Definitely the moral booster we needed, customers were tired & happy & crew has shredded hands. We're off tommorow, then out every day through May starting Friday. More too follow..... 5/3-More bluefish than you can shake a stick at. Bluefish 'til the cows come home. Lady sings the blues. Don't step on my blues suede shoes. I guess you get the idea. We've had so many bluefish fishing bunker that today we switched to trolling diving plugs and shad rigs. While the plugs did produce a few bass early on, they only seemed to bite up to a ceratin part of the tide, then became ineffective. We switched to the rigs and caught a bunch more blues, and so it went. This is the story of my life at the moment. Stay tuned!
